Day 2...The FINAL DAY!!!
Well, the WSOP for Day 2 in Jeff's group is not done playing for the day....but I am sad to announce that Jeff is done. He went down fighting!!!
Earlier this afternoon, Jeff met his fate for the WSOP 2006 Tournament. His chips were going up and down quite a bit from this mornings' report to this afternoon. Jeff went up against Barry Boyd (a pretty popular player, but Jeff was not familiar with him). Jeff had the J-J and Barry had the K-Q. Jeff raised him over 10k.
Jeff was back down around $4k in chips and went all-in. Jeff had the A-6 up against a 4-4 to win. There were 1500 people left in the tournament. Over 300 people were knocked out in the first few hours of day 2.
Jeff was down as low as $1,200 in chips when he went all in and had 6 callers!!! He wins that hand and takes his chip count back up to 13k.
Jeff also sat with Kathy Liebert and watched her get knocked out.
Oh well, we were all rootin' for ya!!! You did GREAT!! almost 1500 people left...you beat out over 8500 other people!!!
900 would have paid out $15k....but you were goin for the gusto anyway! Congrats on playing a GREAT game! The hands you did play...where the ones you should have played. Just look out for next year. That winning pot may be up to $20mill by then.
WSOP Day 2 first Break Update for Jeff Korn
Just received the call from Jeff at the 2006 World Series of Poker $12 Million Tournament at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas.
Jeff has been in another 2 hours..and is still going with 10k in chips.
He went All-in three times in the last two hours (but said he is still playing conservative). His All-in hands were as follows:
Jeff: 8-6 against 4-4. Went all-in and won against his competitor
Jeff: A-K against A-K. went all-in and they both split the pot
Jeff: A-J. Jeff went all-in and the other player folded. Jeff found out the other play did have an A-J too. Jeff won the hand.
There are currently 6 people at the table. He did have Huck Seed at his table who was ranked pretty high as of Day 1 play. He was knocked out and Huck is gone. No big names at Jeff's table at this point.
Time is beginning to run out. blinds are 300/600 right now with $75 ante. Jeff needs to cash in on a big chip sweep pretty soon. He was down to 4k in chips three times in the first two hours...went all-in three times and is currently sitting at 10k in chips.
Send your comments...forward these updates to your friends. Let's get him pumped up to WIN IT ALL!!!!! Heck, how many of us would like to be friends with a 12x's Millioinaire??? I know I won't have a problem being his brother :)

Tommorrow's Tournament
Wednesday, Jeff starts his second day of the WSOP!!! He will be sitting at table 71 Seat 6 to start. So far he knows the best play Huck Seed. Jeff is ready to battle!! He needs to get some big time chips tomorrow, to make it to the final table. He's ready!
Also Jeff met Eddie Clide, co-owner of Bluff Magazine. Jeff played against him at his first table. Looks like Jeff will have a story in the magazine after the tournament. Eddie will be wathing the Phoenix Kid and keeping up with him as he plows his way through the thousands that want the 12 Mill.....but are going to have to wait till next year. Jeff brought an extra suitcase to take home his winnings.
Nickname correction & Jeff's Day off
I have to post a correction. Jeff's nickname from Johnny Chan was actually "the Phoenix Kid". Jeff is off today, and starts his play again tomorrow. The winners of the first two sessions are playing today. Jeff will be playing with the 900 (or so) from yesterday and the group from the session before 1c and 1d.
He was telling me today that him and Johnny were talking quite a bit. Johnny had ALL kinds of camera crews, mic's, etc keeping an eye on his every move. He would lean over to Jeff and say "watch this". Johnny Chan would grab all of his chips and act like he was going all in..and the camera guys would come running from every direction. Then he would pull them back, and him and Jeff would start crackin' up. Jeff is having a lot of fun....and Johnny is lucky he got knocked out before Jeff did it (Jeff really would have felt bad...he like Johnny-LOL....just kiddin' Johnny).
Anyway, Keep posted for the Phoenix Kid...(almost) real time updates, and be sure to send a comment. Let Jeff know how many of us are really rooting for him. Heck, who wouldn't want to be friends with him once he wins the 12 Million Dollar jackpot??? Good Luck Jeff!!!!
Day 1...It's Finally OVER!!!
Jeff made it!!! Day on is over. He outlasted Johnnie Chan...and got some great TV time. They are calling him the Arizona Kid.
He's outlasted some of the bst. Jeff is stting iwht $13,000 in chips. The day is over...he plays again on Wednesday. so keep posted and we will let you know how things are going.
Day 1 Midnight Udate
12:50pm Vegas time: Watch for Jeff on the WSOP 2006 Tournament. Him and Johnny Chan were chatting since Johnny came to his table. There was a LOT of TV time, everytime Chan went all in. Johnny Chan has been elimnated. Jeff outlasted the mighty Chan!!!!! Keep sending your support. Post a comment and send Jeff your messages and support.
He is going for the big 12 Million!!!
Currently he is at 8,000 in chips. The play is still very slow. He is playing some great hands, and closing on the deals when he needs to. Sounds like he was doing very well. Sandi Inman was checking in with him at this last break.
Keep watching...and send him your luck. Mix some luck with Jeff's skill...and he will be bringing home a suitcase of money.

Day 1 WSOP, Jeff Korn Playing to win 12 million
Thanks to Sue Fink for all the photos from Day 1
Jeff Korn started his World Series of Poker Showdown today at 12pm (Vegas time). He his checking in every couple hours during his 20 minute breaks. I will try to keep you posted on his days as he moves closer to the 12 Million Dollar prize pool. I will get you caught up to date.
Jeff won a satellite tournament for $65 which paid for his seat to the WSOP 2006 Tournamnet in Vegas. Jeff started out on table 113 Seat 3. He started with $10,000 in chips.
I received my first call from Jeff just 40 minutes into the tournament. He had just won a $1000 pot and was already at $11,000 in chips. After that big had, he excused himself from the table to get out of the room and calm down. He was just a little nervous.
He went back in and resumed his play. He is playing good...but the players are playing soooo tight, the game is moving very slow.
At 4pm (vegas time) he was at $10.400 chips. Table still moving VERY slow.
At 8pm he was just under $10,000 chips and was on a 1 1/2 hour lunch break.
As of 10pm there have been some changes. There are still 1400 players out of the original 2100 that started this 4th group. They need to play down to 800 players. It has been 10 hours since he started playing today, and the table just got shifted around.
Right now Jeff is sitting next to Johnny Chan...the TOP poker player in the world of Poker. He has 3 poker pros sitting at his table. Johnny is sitting to Jeff's left...so he is gonna have to play his very best.
Keep you posted.
Here is the article that put him in the tournament (from Bodog.com)
